Liquid Diet

Low Calorie Liquid Diet
The liquid diet is one of the diet types that preaches the abstaining from solid food for a spesific period of time. The liquid diet controls calorie intake by restricting what you eat to mostly or all liquids. This is normally a short-term diet plan, therefore the liquid diet is not something that should be used over a long period of time, but only in cases where you need to drop a few pounds. The liquid diet is usually a temporary form of diet advised before certain types of surgery involving the mouth.
The liquid diet falls into two categories that is a low calorie liquid diet and a meal replacement liquid diet. The low calorie liquid diet provides on an average about eight hundred or less calories consumption per day. This diet contains the recommended daily requirements that includes essential nutrients, protein, vitamins and minerals but mostly in liquids form. The low calorie liquid diet dramatically decrease the amount of calories and cause you to lose weight quickly. But, this diet is doing for a short span of time only and must be under strict medical supervision whereas the meal replacement liquid diet replaces one or two whole meals with liquids (usually breakfast and lunch). It means that you may consume one or two meals of real food (usually low-fat and calorie-controlled).
The liquid diet is usually recommended for those individuals who have a lot of weight to lose. For these people, liquid diet may be a great option. The reason is, anything liquid takes far less time to digest than a solid food. Therefore, this is good to reduce the load on your digestive system. It’s almost as if the nutrients bypass the entire process of digestion and get absorbed right to where they need to be. While the solid foods are harder and if those do not get properly digested, they are more easily stored as fat in your body. Instead of losing weight, but even increase your weight.
In conclusion, Short-term weight loss can be achieved with a liquid diet. But, one thing should remember is although liquid diet works, it is not recommended for everyone. If you are sitting on a liquid diet, you need to make sure that you are getting all of your daily requirements for vitamins and nutrients so that you will stay healthy while you are on this diet. It is better to consult with your doctor before starting a liquid diet that may be unusual for you.
